Stain resistant A new study aimed to synthesise a novel UV-curable reactive diluent by reacting bio-based adipic acid with diethanolamine, followed by functionalising it with glycidyl methacrylate. An UV-curable bio-based oligomer was prepared by a ring-opening reaction of epoxidised castor oil with acrylic acid. The cured coating with 40 wt.% reactive diluent exhibited 86 gloss at 60º, 5H hardness, 5B adhesion, 81.27 ºC glass transition temperature, and maximum thermal decomposition temperature of 454 ºC.
