The main sales market for pigments is the paints and coatings industry. According to market research company Ceresana, almost half of all pigments are used in paints and coatings. The fifth edition of its market study on pigments, estimates sales volume in 2017 at 10 million tonnes, the bulk of which, some 60 %, is accounted for by the white pigment, titanium dioxide.
